Download the Installer
Open github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitleedit, click “Releases” on the right, find the latest version, and download the installer with “Setup” in its name (for Windows).
Double-click to install — just keep clicking “Next”, like any ordinary program.
Opening It Up
When you open Subtitle Edit you will see two areas: video preview on top, subtitle list below.
Go to “Video” » “Open video file” in the menu, pick your video, and it appears in the preview area.
Make Your First Subtitle
Right-click in the subtitle list below (or press Insert) to add a new subtitle line.
Type your subtitle text in the text box, e.g. “Hello, welcome to Fuyin Hub”.
Drag the video to where the line is spoken and note the start time; drag to where it ends and note the end time. Fill both into the subtitle row.
Press play on the toolbar to check, then “File” » “Save” — your subtitle file is done!
A Few Tips
The interface is in English, but you only need a handful of functions — you will learn them after two tries.
Press Ctrl+S often to save, so no work gets lost.
