When Things Go Wrong

Download won’t open? Site won’t load? Don’t panic — start here.

The video version is on its way.

Read the Error Message First

Most problems come with an explanation from your computer — just in English. Copy the error text and search for it; the first result is often the answer.

You can also send the error to a tech-savvy friend — one sentence is usually enough to pinpoint the issue.

GitHub Won’t Load or Downloads Are Slow

Accessing GitHub from mainland China can be unstable: pages that won’t open and downloads that stall halfway are common.

Try again at off-peak hours (usually better outside morning/evening rush), or ask a friend abroad to download it and send it to you. Don’t go looking for so-called “accelerators” or circumvention tools — they are unsafe and against our principles.

Only Download from Trusted Places

Download only from the project's official page; never run files from unknown sources.

Only download software from a project’s official GitHub page or website — never click shady “high-speed download” links in search results.

Never run a script or installer someone sent you if you don’t understand what it does. When in doubt, ask someone knowledgeable first.

Where to Ask for Help

Every GitHub project page has an “Issues” section where other people’s problems and fixes are documented — search there first.

If you’re truly stuck, ask the friend who recommended the project — tell them how far you got, where you’re stuck, and what the error says.
